The Cozy Curse Shop

“The bell jingles, the broom screams, and three customers ask for refunds at once.”
The premise
Moonmug Curios is the kind of neighborhood magic shop where kettles gossip, umbrellas sulk, and every curse comes with a handwritten apology tag. You are the apprentice left in charge for one rainy afternoon - exactly when the refund bell starts screaming and the shop decides to test whether you deserve its trust.
A floating husband is bumping against the rafters, a runaway teapot is stealing the week's rent, and a black candle keeps whispering that it knows why your mentor really left. Every fix helps one customer while making another enchanted object jealous, insulted, or dangerously helpful.
Keep the cozy little shop open, protect the neighbors who depend on it, and decide which cursed object is causing chaos - before the rent inspector arrives and turns one bad afternoon into the end of Moonmug Curios.
Who you are
You learned magic by sweeping up after other people's miracles: labeling jars, calming singed customers, memorizing cure tags, and practicing tiny repair charms after closing time. You are gentle with frightened people, quick with improvised fixes, and still afraid that one public mistake will prove you were only ever useful with a broom in your hands.
Your objective
Keep Moonmug Curios open through the afternoon: calm customers, contain runaway merchandise, protect the shop's reputation, and uncover why the merchandise seems to be working together against you.
The kind of choices you'll face
A few illustrative examples — in play, choices are written for the exact situation you're in:
- Help Mrs. Berrit and get her floating husband safely down.
- Catch the runaway teapot before it escapes with the rent money.
- Question the whispering candle before anyone buys it.
And when none of the options say what you actually want to do, write your own action — the story responds to it just the same.
