Crown of Havoc

“A haunted crown rises from the Great Marsh, and every warlord near the ancient city wants its power before the dead wake fully.”
The premise
Return to the Great Marsh as a scarred sellsword who once survived its wraiths and still hears them in the fog. A haunted crown has surfaced near a ruined watchtower, drawing rival warlords toward an ancient city held together by fragile oaths.
You must decide whether to study the crown, bargain around it, or destroy its claim before someone stronger seizes it. The marsh remembers blood, banners, and broken promises — and the crown may offer exactly what you need at the worst possible price.
Who you are
Once a sellsword, you barely survived an ambush by Marsh wraiths. The scars they left are more than skin deep: cold aches before spirit-magic stirs, and old fear sharpens your instincts instead of freezing them. You now roam the borderlands seeking justice for the dead and proof that magic's cost can be faced without becoming another tyrant.
Your objective
Prevent the Crown of Havoc from unleashing destructive spirits or becoming a weapon in the hands of the rival warlords.
The kind of choices you'll face
A few illustrative examples — in play, choices are written for the exact situation you're in:
- Inspect the ruined watchtower for traps, spirit marks, and signs of who reached the crown first.
- Study the tattered banner and identify which warlord has already made a claim.
- Listen for movement in the fog before the warbands or wraiths close in.
And when none of the options say what you actually want to do, write your own action — the story responds to it just the same.
